Nyx Security’s founder Andreas Johansson Österberg nominated to Innovator of the year in Dalarna, Sweden.

Andreas Johansson Österberg, founder of the security firm Nyx Security and the man behind its solutions for intelligent camera surveillance in real time, has been nominated for the award “Innovator of the Year” in Dalarna, Sweden by the trade association Dalarna Business.

The award is presented at the annual Gala of Stars, Dalarna’s biggest entrepreneurs’ celebration on 31 January 2013. The Gala of Stars is organised by Dalarna Business, with the Star award going to individuals who have realized achievements in various categories of enterprise . This year’s theme is “Success”.

Andreas Johansson Österberg has been nominated Innovator of the Year for “having made traditional camera surveillance more intelligent. Security is increased, both at the clients as well as the security companies, with all parties gaining in economy and efficiency.”

Also nominated were Thomas Blomström at Nordic Pump and Ingrid Smitz at Läsnycklen. The jury is made up of representatives for Stiftelsen Teknikdalen, Almi Företagspartner Gävle Dala, Xbase and the County Administrative Board.

Security Company of the Year and Security Entrepreneur of the Year

The nomination for Innovator of the Year is the latest in a series of distinctions received by Nyx Security and Andreas Johansson Österberg in recent years. In September, Nyx Security was chosen Security Company of the Year 2012 by the Swedish security industry with the reasoning “Nyx Security is an innovative and modern company which works purposefully to making an impression and seeks to challenge long-standing traditions with new concepts, drive industry development forward and become a global player to be reckoned with.”

Andreas Johansson Österberg was chosen Security Entrepreneur of the Year 2011.

Video analysis of the course of events in real time makes it possible to prevent crime

Nyx Security has taken the Swedish security industry by storm the last two years with its crime preventing, innovative security solution based on intelligent cameras and video analysis of the course of events in real time. A number of cooperation partnerships have been established with players in the security industry, e.g. Bravida Säkerhet, G4S Norway and Rapid Larmcentraler, and has received several major orders from Statoil, Peab, NCC and others.

In March 2011, Nyx Security attracted 100 million SEK in venture capital from the venture capital firms Amadeus Capital and Northzone Ventures (a major shareholder in Spotify).

Nyx intelligent solutions build on Revisec, Nyx’s innovative security platform based on in-house developed and leading intelligent video analysis of the course of events in real time. The cameras can detect anomalous courses of events such as intrusions or deviations from routes and procedures and then alert operators who decide on immediate action. The systems make possible efficient 24/7 surveillance all year round at a low cost and prevent and document damages, thefts and accidents.

Nyx security has around 4,000 intelligent cameras connected to its camera monitoring center. The company’s security solution has prevented around 6,000 crimes so far this year.
